My Journey

As far back as I can remember, I was that shy sensitive kid that felt uncomfortable in many situations. Most of the time I didn’t know why I felt the way I did. All I knew was that I was worried, scared, and seemed different from those around me. Fear was my biggest obstacle, and, if I didn’t think I would succeed, I was reluctant to try. In the things I did well I went above and beyond to the point of losing sleep.

From the outside, things looked like they were going okay, but on the inside, I felt scared and alone.

But through it all, my love of art and dance became a powerful means of expression. I savoured the success and recognition that I received when I was creating art and being in my body – it just felt good. I didn’t know it at the time, but art ultimately led me on the path to becoming a psychotherapist.

In the years that followed I worked with many therapists and healers and was provided with the opportunity to be genuinely seen, heard, and understood.

I learned to be patient and accept the time that it took for me to feel safe. As my awareness grew, I came to see I had options for the way I felt, thought, and reacted. I gained the ability to remain present without having to retreat and learned how to move from surviving to thriving.

Now I can experience the fullness of my life.

I know what it feels like to be alive and to feel connected to myself. Even that shy sensitive part has evolved, and I now know what it feels like to be safe and accepted. That trust and confidence also extend to relationships in my life, in my role as a daughter, a sister, a friend, a wife, and a mother.

You don’t have to do it alone. I’d be honoured to walk with you on your journey.
